Hello, Nikoleta Dodova here! I work as a QA Engineer and Scrum Master on Boards on Fire’s development team. Today, I’m taking over the feed for a little while to give you a sneak peek of what a typical day looks like for me. Spoiler: it’s really varied and fun.
As I mentioned earlier, I work as a QA Engineer and Scrum Master on Boards on Fire’s development team! It’s a role where I get to combine the best of both worlds: ensuring that what we build is of the highest quality while helping the team create a smooth and efficient workflow. Here’s what a typical day looks like for me:
08:00 – The day starts with me taking the stairs all the way up to the 16th floor, where our development team is based! It’s the perfect way to get the blood flowing and start the day full of energy, something I also try to convince my colleagues to do.
08:40 – Once everyone is settled in at the office, I lead our short daily stand-up meeting. We go through the day’s agenda, prioritize focus areas, and discuss any obstacles. It’s a great way to make sure everyone is on the same page and can work efficiently throughout the day.
09:00 – After stand-up, I dive into focus mode. This could be testing, planning for upcoming sprints, or providing support for release preparations.
As a QA Engineer, my work isn’t just about finding bugs. It’s about ensuring the product works as intended, is reliable, and delivers value to our users. Every test I perform contributes to confidence, quality, and a better system.
11:30 – While many take the elevator down to the gym during lunch, I choose my daily walk, rain or shine ☔️☀️. It’s my way of clearing my mind, recharging, and returning to my desk fully focused. Of course, I also make sure to grab some lunch along the way.
12:30 – After lunch, it’s full speed ahead again with testing, analysis, and team discussions. No two days are alike, but that’s exactly what makes the job fun and rewarding!
In summary, I really enjoy working here and firmly believe that every IT and development-focused organization needs a dedicated tester!
