A couple of weeks ago, two of our colleagues took a trip to Alvesta in Småland to visit Beds by Scapa, our very first industrial customer. Since 2019, Boards on Fire has been a natural part of their daily operations, supporting the production of beds. Now, six years later, the solution is still highly valued and continues to play a key role in creating structure, improving communication, and strengthening engagement in the production process.
At Beds by Scapa in Alvesta, Boards on Fire has become an integral part of everyday life for all 75 employees. With digital pulse boards featuring tools for daily management and continuous improvement, along with takt boards displaying real-time production data, employees have full visibility and can drive development forward on a daily basis.
When we visited the factory, we were met by a highly engaged team where the digital way of working truly permeated the entire operation. Seeing the daily meetings and follow-ups in action clearly demonstrated how Boards on Fire creates real value.
"Previously, we updated our KPIs manually on a whiteboard, but since we started using Boards on Fire, we’ve been able to connect the system directly to our ERP, which records every unit produced," says Andreas Knobloch, Production Manager at Scapa.
Each morning, a total of five group meetings are held on the production floor, where information from the team boards is automatically reflected on the pulse board for the production management team. The management team then gathers to get an up-to-date overview of the factory covering staffing, safety, production figures, and logistics. Based on this overview, they can quickly make decisions, handle deviations, and delegate daily tasks. At the same time, continuous improvement efforts are closely monitored to ensure ongoing development.
"Implementing Boards on Fire has been exactly the right move for us. We clearly see increased engagement and a stronger sense of responsibility among the employees largely thanks to how easy it is to visualize and follow up on production," Andreas adds.
Curious to see how this works in practice? In our new video, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at Beds by Scapa and follow their digital journey, an inspiring story of tradition meeting innovation.
A big thank-you to Andreas Knobloch and the rest of the fantastic team at Scapa for the warm welcome you're doing an amazing job!
