In the end, enough was enough. Rotage had grown tired of limited visibility and time-consuming manual ways of working. When the management team discovered Boards on Fire, it didn’t take long before they embarked on a transformation journey that would unlock new possibilities. From whiteboards and sticky notes to a sharp, digital and efficient daily management system.
–The three biggest advantages of Boards on Fire are its accessibility, scalability, and flexibility, says Simon Wedner, Quality Technician at Rotage, as he describes the company’s digital daily management tool.
For Rotage, these qualities have become increasingly important as the business has grown. The company is a contract manufacturer of sheet metal components with strong roots in Swedish industry. Over the years, they have built a stable operation and long-term customer relationships. But as the company expanded, both nationally and internationally, the demands for speed and efficiency increased, driving the need for more modern ways of working.
For many years, Rotage managed daily operations using handwritten figures on whiteboards and printed Excel sheets, a common approach in the manufacturing industry. While it once worked well, growing demands for speed and clarity gradually exposed its limitations.
Critical information was often outdated. Instead of having an accurate, real-time view of production, decisions were frequently based on yesterday’s numbers. When key individuals were absent, updates stopped altogether, responsibilities became unclear, and what was once a support system turned into a bottleneck.
It became clear that something had to change. When Production Manager Antonio Scarlini was introduced to Boards on Fire, the shift from insight to action happened quickly. Soon, the transformation journey was underway.

It didn’t take long before Rotage began to see the impact. Their way of working evolved, and many of the previous challenges disappeared. Meetings became more structured, and issues that previously fell through the cracks were now visible and manageable. Information no longer stayed in meeting rooms, it was captured, followed up, and shared across the organization.
Today, key decisions are made based on real-time data, updated and visualized every 10 to 15 minutes. The link between actions and results has become clearer, and each department works with its own boards where production is visualized in real time.
Key benefits at Rotage
Perhaps the most noticeable change can be seen in continuous improvement. Where physical A5 improvement cards were once used, a more dynamic and efficient approach has taken over. Improvements are now driven.

Monitor has long been a core part of Rotage’s operations, the ERP system where everything from production to orders and inventory is managed and tracked. It serves as a reliable and important data source. However, as demands increased, so did the need to make information more accessible and easier to understand for a broader part of the organization.
– Boards on Fire is accessible everywhere, and there are clear benefits to having all data gathered in one place. In our ERP system, Monitor, it was difficult for everyone to access key information such as production output or capacity. We’ve been able to solve that challenge with Boards on Fire, says Simon Wedner.
When the opportunity to integrate the systems arose, Rotage took the next step. By connecting Monitor with Boards on Fire, data flows were automated and given new life. Today, key metrics such as setup time and planned production time are visualized in a clear and intuitive way, ensuring the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

When change is introduced, it often brings both questions and a degree of uncertainty. At Rotage, however, this never became a barrier. On the contrary, the initiative was met with curiosity and strong engagement from employees. The interest in digitalizing daily work spread quickly, far beyond the production floor. Today, other parts of the organization, including the sales department, also use Boards on Fire in their daily work.
– Many people truly appreciate the change in the end, especially when they realize how much it reduces paperwork, says Simon Wedner.
