Neighbourhood's mobile app is an engaging tool that leverages "gamification" — game mechanics designed to spark interest and keep youth focused on the right path. The app provides a variety of tasks that participants must complete to earn points, which can later be exchanged for rewards. The point system makes the efforts more tangible and immediate, helping convey progress on long-term goals such as academic success or future employment.
The tasks range from attending tutoring sessions or workshops, while the rewards, such as a go-kart tournament or other experiences, give the participants something to look forward to. Everything is managed via the app, but the tasks themselves are carried out in the real world. This combination of digital administration and physical activity creates a seamless integration between technology and everyday life, offering young people a meaningful path away from crime and towards community engagement.
