25% Increase in Production Efficiency at Luni Metall

For nearly four decades, Luni Metall has evolved from a manufacturer of store interiors into a versatile industrial partner. With the ambition to modernize production and free up time for what truly matters, the company has taken the step from manual processes to digital daily management with Boards on Fire.

Luni and Boards on Fire

Luni Metall AB was founded in 1985, starting its journey with the manufacture of store interiors. Since then, the company has grown and developed into a versatile player in the manufacturing industry. Investments in modern machinery, such as the tube laser machine in 2009, along with continuous development since 2018, have enabled Luni to deliver both complete solutions and individual products across a range of industries today.

The Journey Toward Digital Daily Management

For many years, daily management at Luni consisted of manual work, primarily using whiteboards. However, with the ambition to digitalize and streamline their processes, Luni discovered Boards on Fire during their participation in the 2021 production improvement program, particularly through their mentor Tomas Wigerfelt. Once the new approach using LEAN and daily management was established, the company implemented Boards on Fire in the factory. The goal was clear: to modernize production, visualize key performance indicators and critical information across multiple levels, and free up time and focus for what truly matters.

Greater Engagement and Increased Efficiency

Since implementing Boards on Fire, both engagement and efficiency have increased significantly, by as much as 25 precent. One of the most appreciated features is the pulse board, which visualizes production load and efficiency. It provides a clear overview of needs and resources across different departments and helps staff feel more involved and engaged.

– “Since we started using Boards on Fire, our efficiency has increased from around 80 percent to 100 percent. We also respond faster when production falls behind, which allows us to deliver to customers more quickly,” says Simon Lagerström, CEO of Luni Metall.

Simon also explains that Boards on Fire has been very well received by the staff. Everyone experiences time savings and finds it easier to focus on the right tasks.

Future visions and goals

The implementation of Boards on Fire is still in its early stages, but Luni’s management already sees great potential in the system and is especially looking forward to developing their work with deviation management in Boards on Fire.

– We’re still at the beginning of our journey with Boards on Fire, and it feels like we’ve only scratched the surface of what the system can do. Once we get further along, I’m sure we’ll discover even more benefits. The next step for Luni is to start working with deviation management in Boards on Fire, says Simon.

In addition, Luni looks forward to continuing to develop their work with continuous improvement.

– Continuous improvement in Boards on Fire is a feature we’re just getting started with, but we know it will make a big contribution to our work going forward, Simon adds.

Finally, Simon highlights that the service and support from Boards on Fire have been excellent, and that everything has worked smoothly without any issues.
